For the past four years, I worked in a corporate tech kitchen, building relationships and supporting my coworkers through every shift. Last year, after a massive wave of layoffs, we came together and unionized to protect our rights and ensure fair treatment. I was an open supporter of the union effort, and it is my belief—as well as the belief of my coworkers and union representatives—that I was wrongfully terminated in retaliation for standing up for our collective bargaining rights.
The fight for fair treatment has been exhausting, and the shock of sudden termination, combined with going through a divorce, has made this past year especially taxing. I don’t need charity because I don’t want to work; I simply can’t work for a little while as I recover from several traumas that happened all at once. Juggling single motherhood with an empty cup and an empty bank account is life in extreme hard mode. This fundraiser will also help me cover mental health support and recovery from Autistic burnout and divorce, as I focus on healing during this non-work period.
Now, while we fight in court to dispute my termination and secure the full benefits we’ve been bargaining for, I am completely out of work. I have a young daughter to care for, and the uncertainty of this situation has made everyday expenses like gas and groceries a real challenge. I’m doing everything I can to return to the job I once loved, but the waiting and red tape are tough to navigate.
Any support you can offer—whether it’s a donation or sharing my story—means the world to me and my daughter. Thank you for standing with us as we fight for fairness and stability.
