Support Ashley's Family Through Health Crisis

My name is Ashley, and I'm reaching out for help during a very challenging time for my family. My 93-year-old grandmother, Shirley, needs constant care, and my father, Phillip (61), who has been her primary caregiver, was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure among a litany of other health complications.

The situation escalated quickly. On Sunday morning, I drove 3 hours from my home in Sulphur to Thibodaux to rush Phillip to the ER. He was confused and resisting care. Unfortunately, this confusion persists. Even if he's released from the hospital, he won't be able to return home and care for Shirley. Long-term rehabilitation is likely necessary.

I'm facing a heavy burden. I'm determined to care for both of them, but I’m currently three hours from my husband and young son. The unexpected medical bills and travel expenses are overwhelming, on top of the emotional strain of making long-term care decisions for both Shirley, likely for the rest of her life, and Phillip as well. Managing this alone, 3 hours away from my support system, is incredibly difficult.
