Supporting Ashley: A Community Rises to Help
Ashley is a beacon of kindness and generosity, always extending a helping hand to those around her. Now, she and her family are facing an immense challenge after a house fire on Saturday, June 7 while she was away celebrating her wedding anniversary. While thankfully everyone is safe, the damage is heartbreakingly extensive.
A fire, caused by charging lithium-ion batteries, was remarkably contained thanks to the quick actions of a babysitter and the fire department and what the independent inspector called "the best containment he has ever seen." This quick thinking saved their lives and the house from complete destruction.
However, the consequences of this fire go far beyond what meets the eye:
* Water damage: 300 gallons of water were pumped in, necessitating the replacement of floors and cabinets.
* Smoke contamination: The entire home requires specialized smoke mitigation due to the hazardous gases released by lithium batteries. This means several weeks of displacement for the family.
* Total loss of essentials: Due to the toxic nature of the smoke, countless items are irreparable. This includes all soft materials, all food plastics (like baby bottles and cups), and an astonishing array of everyday necessities: toilet paper, paper towels, Ziplocs, diapers, wipes, all hygiene products (including all makeup), and even all food.
Ashley and her husband, Jason, are both warriors. Ashley is navigating life with a chronic illness and consistently putting others first. She recently endured a difficult anniversary trip, where her condition flared, yet she remains grateful for everything and everyone in her life.
It's our turn to show Ashley, Jason, Emma (6), and Phoebe (2) the same compassion and support they so freely give. Your donation will provide a lifeline as they replace critical items, cover unexpected living expenses during their displacement, and begin to heal from this traumatic event. Let's come together to lift Ashley up and help her family rebuild.
