My wife (Ashley) and I have been married for 14 years. We've got 3 young beautiful girls.

On the 11th of March, Ashley, aged 35, was admitted into the hospital for a hysterectomy due to abnormal bleeding, multiple pelvic organ prolapses, and abnormal pap results that led to a colposcopy showing precancerous cells.

At this point, Ashley has been in SICU for 8 days now. She's had so many complications: hemorrhagic shock, hyponatremia, hypoxia, postoperative ileus, transfusion-related acute lung injury (TRALI), volume overload, acute blood loss anemia, acute hypoxic respiratory failure, AKI (acute kidney injury), disseminated intravascular coagulation.

Throughout the process, we realized she had multiple bleeds in her abdomen and has had to have 2 additional surgeries, receive over 20 units of blood and also a number of platelets, and other things. Her blood pressure has been deathly low. She's been on bed rest and tons of meds to try to keep her stable. The whole left side of her body is covered in black and blue bruises from all the blood pooling. She’s on medication to prevent blood clots and medication to pull the leaked fluids back to the vessel.

*** Update: we’re still facing possible complications Ashley is having stomach pain for a few days now accompanied by heavier bleeding. We’re going back to the surgeon on Monday.
