Support Ashley’s Care for Dezzy’s Needs Post-Foster System

For those of you who are unfamiliar, my sister Ashley chose to become a foster parent a number of years ago. She was asked by another family to be a "respite" home for a 11 year old girl who had recently been introduced to their family. Ashley and Dezzy immediately hit it off, and they mutually made the decision for Dezzy to move into Ashley's care full-time.

This was 4 years ago and although Dezzy has blossomed immensely with her new family and life, she has faced unimaginable challenges, including abuse and years spent in the foster care system and group homes. These experiences have left deep wounds, and despite her strength, she is now struggling with the effects of this trauma in ways that require specialized care.

To give Dezzy the best chance at healing and a brighter future, my sister has made the difficult decision to enroll her in a therapeutic boarding school. This program offers the intensive therapy, structure, and support she needs to overcome her past and develop healthy coping mechanisms. This is an investment in her future, a chance for her to heal and thrive.
