Let me tell you about my wonderful friend, Ashley Gore. She and I talk often (and laugh) about all the idiosyncrasies of our transplant doctors (yes, we have the same ones!) and I have been trying to guide her through the arduous process at Nazih Zuhdi (Integris’ transplant center in Oklahoma City). She is very creative, an awesome dog and cat mama, wryly funny with a deadpan wit, has a beautiful family with two adorable kiddos and loves Jesus. Oh yes, and she desperately needs to be put on the liver transplant list.

Ashley has powered through some setbacks in her almost 4-year fight including two thoracotomies, lower left lung lobectomy, a 6 day coma, pancreatic pseudocyst, brain fog and fluid buildup due to encephalopathy and stage 4 cirrhosis. (No emoji needed; I can picture your faces!) Her MELD score is currently 18, but given her host of other problems, they would like to ensure she gets a liver sooner rather than later. I immediately thought I need to do SOMETHING to help. And that's where this GoFundMe and you come in.

While still trying to get the ship (her body) upright, Ashley has finally gone through all the steps at Nazih Zuhdi to be considered for the transplant list except for one. Did you know that the transplant center may require you to show proof of your ability to financially support a transplant before you can join the waiting list for a liver? This is what has happened with Ashley. She needs to raise $2500 in the next 2.5 months to be listed (I'm sorry, but that is such BS!). In this economy, life is just harder. Could you imagine getting an unplanned $2500 bill, due in 90 days, in order to save your life?! Even though I know your dollar has been stretched lately too, I am hoping you can help me raise at least just 20% of that cost.

Ashley is an incredible young woman, mother and friend. I hope that you can help in the fight for her life so that her littles can keep their mama around.
