Support Ashley Following the Loss of Her Mother
Donation protected
Gilda Cooper passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side, after a three year battle with Stage 3C Peritoneal Cancer. Ashley was Gilda’s pride and joy and everything that she did was for her. Gilda’s beautiful smile, soulful spirit, warmth and energetic presence blessed all who were lucky enough to know her. She was a beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, and friend. To know her was to love her.
As an Assistant Principal, Reading Specialist, and lifelong educator for over 30 years, Gilda committed herself to uplifting her students, and impacting not only their education but every aspect of their lives. Gilda was also a pillar of the Cherry Hill community, investing time and energy to support and brighten the lives of everyone around her. Her radiant smile and thunderous applause could always be seen and heard from the front row at every event, enthusiastically supporting Ashley and her peers. Above all, Gilda’s immense love for her daughter Ashley was undeniable. She embodied a love of learning, a remarkable kindness, and a passion for music—qualities she instilled in her daughter.
Ashley is currently a Senior at Harvard College, nearing graduation in the spring. She is jointly concentrating in Neuroscience and Social Anthropology with a secondary field in History of Science and a citation in French. Ashley is extremely dedicated to her coursework and was recently named a John Harvard Scholar, distinguishing her as part of the top 5% of her class. She is also a dedicated leader on campus, leading many student organizations and spearheading countless initiatives that have made a lasting impact on Harvard’s campus.
Now, in the midst of a pandemic, Ashley must learn to navigate life without the love of her mother. Unfortunately, Ashley suffered the loss of her beloved Father at age 9 which has made the loss of her mother especially difficult. Ashley must now traverse the holiday season without the support of either of her parents, something no child should ever endure.
This is why we are asking that you please donate to help cover immediate expenses as Ashley manages the financial responsibilities she now faces. With COVID slowing processes Gilda had in place, we hope that this fund will alleviate some of the stress currently on Ashley. Any donation is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your donation and please keep Ashley in your thoughts and prayers this holiday season.
