Support Ashley and Jalen in Crisis

Tragedy strikes when you least expect it. Our friend Ashley has had her fair share of tragedy in her life but here she is again dealing with yet another unimaginably tragic situation. As if it wasn't enough for her to lose her dad two and a half years ago to cancer, she is now facing the hard fact that her husband and father of her children is facing a potentially life threatening illness. He's been sick for months and in and out of countless doctors appointments, emergency rooms, and urgent cares with what was originally an undetected illness that has caused weightless, inability to eat, and immense pain. As a result, Jalen has been unable to work or help with their children. Between the lack of income and the many necessary trips to specialists, the financial stress is becoming overwhelming.

Jalen was a victim of rape by a male cousin when he was a young child into his adolescence. This cousin gave him HIV, this “mystery illness” that went undiagnosed for months is now threatening his life. He has AIDS presenting illnesses, such as; ulcers in his mouth and throat, thrush, pneumonia, strep and a sinus infection. He can't eat or drink and is in indescribable pain. Jalen is currently fighting for his life in the hospital, where they're administering fluids and medications to try to get him well enough to see the infectious disease doctor. His body is so incredibly weak from not getting a diagnoses earlier. Needless to say, Ashley is scared to death that he may not pull through and is trying to stay by his side and advocate for him as much as she possibly can. She is already working two jobs to support their children on top of now caring for Jalen 24/7.
