Support Ashley and Corbin through Rhodes' NICU journey

Our friends need our help. During a family vacation in Florida, Ashley abruptly and unexpectedly went into early labor at just 27 weeks pregnant. Beautiful baby boy Rhodes Everett Peltier was born on May 7th, coming in at a whopping 2lbs 13oz. The good news is that mama & baby are healthy, dad is so supportive, and Rhodes is proving to be a resilient ‘big tiny’, exceeding all expectations and growing every day with the support of his brave parents, Ashley & Corbin.

The bad news – They are expecting to stay in Florida until the original due date of 8/3/25.

Ashley and Corbin have spent their days since the sudden birth of their son reviewing options, talking with insurance, meeting with Doctors, and trying to find ways to come home to Columbus Ohio so that they have their support system nearby during this unimaginably difficult time. Insurance has denied their claims (3 times!!) to fly Rhodes to Columbus & admit him into Nationwide Childrens Hospital, with Ashley & Corbin relentlessly appealing the first two decisions. At this time, they made the heartbreaking decision that since Rhodes is ‘stable’ and they’ve received amazing support at their current hospital (833 miles away from home), that Florida is the best place for them to be until he is released in 2.5 months.

Why they need our help? Corbin is a Columbus firefighter and Ashley is a Columbus RN, thus they’re unable to work remotely while ensuring their son gets the medical attention he needs to grow. Meanwhile, the mortgage and bills are still due back home, FMLA only pays 40% of standard paychecks, medical bills are already mounting (hello, out-of-state emergency C-section + NICU stay), and Corbin & Ashley need to find housing while staying in Florida until August. Compounding all of this, Ashley will more than likely be out of work from May through the end of October, as child care is lined up to begin in November based on baby boys original due date.

We’re asking everyone who loves this beautiful family of 3 to help alleviate some of their financial stress, which is the most we can do for them right now. Funds donated here will be put towards:

Rhodes NICU stay (8-12 weeks total)

Medical bills for out-of-state emergency csection and NICU care

Hotel/Airbnb cost

Food cost

Rental car cost

Clothing and pumping supplies
