We would love to see everyone come together for someone who has selflessly helped thousands of medical cannabis patients as an advocate and amazing friend. Ashleigh Brown started Shecann in 2017, and in only a few short years, built one of Canada's largest community resources for medical cannabis patients. Since then, she has dedicated thousands of hours to helping patients directly, and tirelessly advocating for improved access to medical cannabis in Canada with governments, media, other non profits, academia and industry.
Many of you are familiar with Ashleigh's incredible story and journey. After being on a long waitlist, Ashleigh finally has the opportunity to go to Western University's Epilepsy Monitoring Unit for monitoring, testing and brain surgery - Canada's largest and best epilepsy hospital, led by world renowned surgeon Dr David Steven and epileptologist Dr Jorge Burneo. At the end of May, Ashleigh will be coming out to London, Ontario for up to four weeks to work with this incredible team.
To add to the challenges she has faced so far, Ashleigh was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease last August. This has changed her ability to work, and to travel alone, but this opportunity is too important to miss.
Since Ashleigh and her family live in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ashleigh will be making the trip by herself. To support Ashleigh and her family - her two teenage daughters and partner Steve - we want to raise funds to help cover the cost of all travel and accommodations for her and her family. No one should have to do this alone - but especially Ashleigh who has always shown extraordinary care and support for others. With these funds, we hope to cover Ashleigh's travel and expenses, and support Ashleigh's family coming to Ontario, accommodating work and school schedules to provide support and care for Ashleigh during this period of 2-4 weeks or more.
Ashleigh is an incredible, kind friend and colleague who always shows up no matter what life throws her way. Her humour and resilience, even on the hard days, is nothing short of amazing. We want to ensure she is surrounded by love and support during her trip to London, bringing with it a little hope!
