Dear Friends of Ashlea and Matt,
Sadly Ashlea's and Matt's home had a major fire on August 8. They were at the drive-in with Lane and Landon and came home to find the fire. It had started in the basement and burned up slowly through the first floor, which partially collapsed into the basement (taking the piano with it). Given the slow-burning nature of the fire very little is salvageable other than some wood furniture. The restoration company they are working with say they don't usually see soot and smoke damage this bad, which means even clothes up at the highest level are likely ruined, as is anything plastic. The only things left that weren't impacted by the fire were the clothes on their back at the drive-in, a few blankets and their favorite Yetis.
Thankfully there will be some insurance recovery, including a total rebuild of the entire house after it is knocked down to the studs. However, there has been and will be some major out of pocket expenses. Some things like a multi-decades costume collection and dinosaur bones are not fully valued by insurance.
Many have already been generous. But with Matt out of work due to the pandemic I would like to provide them with as much support as possible to help ease the immediate burden and to bridge the gap while the complicated logistics of the insurance payout are completed.
Thank you for all your well wishes and anything you feel you can give.
Kind Regards,
Brandon
