My name is Ashley Lynn Curwen but many know me by Ashh Lynn Smith. I’m the owner of Crimson Oath Tattoo in Vernon B.C. I have been tattooing since 2014 and opened my business in January 2019. I have poured my heart into creating a studio that welcomes and accommodates clients of all types. For many, Crimson Oath has become more than just a tattoo shop — it’s a safe, inclusive space for artists, clients, and my own family.

If you found this Go fund me it’s probably because you’ve heard of the health issues I’m experiencing. I still do not have a diagnosis. Since August 15th I have been losing my speech and struggling with several other concerning symptoms. Both Doctors appointments and treatments are filling my schedule and draining me financially. Without being able to tattoo consistently if at all since July, I’ve had to lean heavily on my team to carry the shop without me there. We are in the middle of relocating the studio which is challenging timing to say the least. I am still pursuing ways to supplement my income at this time but as a business owner I’m not eligible for EI and without a diagnosis, applying for disability will be challenging. Without bringing revenue from myself tattooing into my business I’ve been reluctant to take anything out as it could put my business at risk very quickly.

The truth is, my journey has not been an easy one. It’s hard to ask for help, i’ve been pushing through and figuring life out as it comes but as of late, that has become difficult. I was diagnosed with autism when my son was a baby, he received his diagnosis a few years later. Down the road I built my business during an abusive marriage, thankfully with help from the police both my son and I got out safely in 2023. My team at Crimson were by me every step of the way ensuring I was not doing it alone. Regardless, moving forward included carrying the weight of trauma and an incredible amount of debt on my own, alongside the responsibilities of being a single mom. I did what I had to do: I got to work, I poured my heart into my son and the shop and made a safe space for us both. For the past two years, my son and his service dog have come with me most days that I work. This studio has been a place where we both could heal and belong.

This fundraiser will help cover:
Medical and personal recovery needs so I can focus on healing.
Financial stability during this transition, so my son and I are supported. This would cover rent along with transportation while I am unable to drive. My son and I have lived in the same apartment rental since 2018.

Getting help with the personal financial challenges I’m experiencing will keep my family and business safe during the unknown.

I’ve always believed in finding art and community in unusual places, I just didn’t think I’d lose my voice along the way. I am determined to move forward — for myself, for my son, and for Crimson Oath. Your support, whether through donation or sharing this campaign, will help us step into this new chapter with hope and stability.
