Hey everyone! My name is Mickenzie and to put it simply, I’m a momma to a fur baby who needs a pricey surgery to be able to live in comfort instead of pain.

I’m 23 with a Bachelor’s of Science in behavioral healthcare. I am currently working as a registered behavioral technician for children with developmental disabilities while completing my masters to become a board certified behavior analyst. Being a first generation college student, I have always worked my hardest to further my education without letting financials stand in the way. After graduating high school with my Cambridge Diploma, along with almost 300 volunteer hours, I was granted the 100% Bright Futures Scholarship. Now with my masters program, I am completing a plan of monthly payments to be finished upon graduation.

I got my golden boy, Asher, right before the completion of my bachelors when he was a couple months old. Asher has always been a rambunctious and adventurous boy, favorites being running of course, along with swimming, camping, and road trips! He is the purest soul with a heart of gold, just like his beautiful fur. I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish as much as I have without the nightly cuddles and continuous unconditional love I receive from him. He truly is a ray of sunshine, always radiating happiness. I honestly do not know how to put into words the true extent of how much I love this dog; he is my baby. We recently moved away from Tampa and the apartment life into our first house! Since getting Asher that has always been my goal, to get into a home where he has his very own backyard. He absolutely adores his yard and takes full advantage of it, as he should!

However, he recently hasn’t been able to make use of the yard as much. He began having troubles running, so he has slowed down a lot. With this, he also is having troubles with climbing and jumping. Asher is about to be three years old and we have just found out he tore his CCL on both sides, so essentially needs a form of knee surgery for both legs in order to be able to live freely again without pain. His favorite spot to cuddle is the hammock, but he can’t use it until we are able to get his surgery completed. In the meantime, I made sure to put the mattress of our bed on the floor so he can still get his cuddles without hurting himself from jumping. The cost for the CCL surgery to be completed on both sides at the same time is our cheapest option, looking at $7,500

Thank you for taking the time to read our story! Anything you are able to contribute will help tremendously and be greatly appreciated.
