Support Ashcreek: Secure Our School's Future

Tax deductible
Ashcreek Playschool was established in 2015. As a Parent Co-operative Preschool, family participation is an integral part of our program, including having caregivers rotate through as assistant teachers in the classrooms. The school is run by volunteer board members and is a 501c3 non-profit.

Ashcreek has grown from one class during its first two years to three classes currently.

Our school is a community that connects children, caregivers, and neighbors. Ashcreek resides within Murray Hills Christian Church. Although we are not affiliated with the church, they have been wonderful partners and provide the perfect space for our students to learn and play. There is room for all three classrooms inside as well as a large playground for outside exploration.

In 2021, Ashcreek Playschool became aware that the permit that the church held did not allow for all currently enrolled students. We went to work right away to apply for a new permit. We have spent the past 4 years pouring our heart and soul into getting the new permit approved. We have met significant roadblocks along the way.

The school and the church have put extensive resources into proving that our school is an asset to the City of Beaverton, and ultimately they agreed! We have one last hurdle to overcome to find permanency in our space. It has already cost us significant legal fees and may amount to much more. We believe in our school and its location and want to continue to fight for it. This expense is massive for our small non-profit. We could really use the community's support to help us keep our school a resource to many in our community. Here are just a few reasons:

  • Childcare shortages: There are significant shortages for preschool, let alone for affordable, high-quality experiences like Ashcreek provides today. Livability in Beaverton depends on people being able to raise their family here.
  • The environment that Ashcreek Playschool provides is unique and beneficial to students with and without disabilities, and is a perfect example of how inclusive environments benefit all in the community.
  • The playground as a park for public use is hugely beneficial for the neighborhood and community at large.

At the last City Counsel Meeting 26 passionate folks spoke on behalf of our school. We know we have more support out there. Please help us with a donation today!
