Support our work to build sanctuary space

Greetings!
We are setting out to build non-denominational, sanctuary spaces to provide unity in the community. We hope to build many, mini-temples. What is a temple? To us, a temple is a place of balance and equanimity. It is a peaceful place to ground, to remember, to be at one with your self and the energy that is available to all, equally.

In these places the intent is to connect with each other and with one’s self. We want to build many of these; all over. We have a wonderful opportunity to bring our work to share with many at the very center of the city out at Burning Man.

My name is Christopher Wood ((Scout)) and my design architecture partner, Giancarlo… plus a crew of builders have already begun our build and are in the throes with a lot of momentum. We have also already begun sewing in experiences and ceremonies to take place during the burn including the Blessings of Remembrance orchestrated by Cathryn the Grateful of A Living Temple in Charleston.

Our build costs are fairly contained, but the transport costs (and material costs) are super high. Everything is so expensive these days, and we know it’s hard out there for you too. We had quite a struggle deciding whether to just can this, but we decided it’s so needed. It’s going to be a place of refuge. It’s going to be a sanctuary space. And we want to continue this work. We will continue to fund-raise but we did not start this until after the grant process was already closed for BM. This is our first year working on big art in the desert. And we reeeally appreciate your consideration whether you know one of us or just believe in the project; whether you have $25 that will encourage others to donate as well or your have $500-$1000 to give and can take care of a big chunk.

Our known costs so far:
  • $3000+ in lumber, hardware, rigging
  • $700 in fabric for shade and deco
  • $2000+ in gas round trip
  • $1000 in food & supplies for crew for 2 weeks leading up to the burn
