We're reaching out to ask for your support on behalf of Aryashree Bhagat, a dedicated and amazingly creative young Buddhist practitioner from India who has been accepted into the BA in Buddhist Studies program at Dharma Realm Buddhist University (DRBU) in California.
Aryashree comes from an Ambedkarite Buddhist family and was raised with a deep commitment to the Dhamma. Her mother, Dhammacharini Akashageeta, is a Triratna Order Member and an active Dhamma teacher and activist. Inspired by her upbringing, Aryashree has cultivated a strong passion for Buddhist philosophy, creative expression, and social transformation.
Over the next four years, Aryashree will not only be immersing herself in deep Buddhist study at DRBU but will also be living in California throughout the duration of her program. This means she will have the chance to connect with and contribute to the vibrant Buddhist community in the Bay Area, including our San Francisco Triratna Community. This is a wonderful opportunity for us to welcome and support a fellow practitioner who shares our values and enrich our Sangha by fostering deeper connections across the global Triratna movement.
While DRBU has generously awarded her financial aid covering $27,800, Aryashree still needs to raise $5,300 to cover essential costs such as visa, travel, registration fees, and basic living expenses.
This is a rare and precious opportunity for Aryashree to deepen her Buddhist practice, engage with our community, and develop the skills to serve others. As members of the wider Triratna and Buddhist Sangha, we have the chance to support a young practitioner who is committed to walking the path and sharing the Dharma.
If you feel moved to contribute, any amount—large or small—will help her take this next step in her journey.
