Hello,
As many of you know 2 years ago I spent 4 weeks in Arusha Tanzania working with a wonderful veterinarian. His efforts in animal welfare education and helping the animals are Herculean!! He treats the city dogs, runs a local shelter in his backyard to treat injured street animals and assist with placing them once they are healthy. He also educates owners to improve animal welfare of animals that do have homes. He works with the local children to educate the next generation so animal welfare becomes more commonplace. As you can imagine, the veterinary practices in his area of Tanzania, are vastly different than what we see in our areas and he uses what he has to make huge impacts on the lives of the animals and people he contacts every day. I was amazed at what he accomplishes with such limited resources. one thing tat is CRITICAL to his system is his vehicle. I would estimate that over 85% of his clients are done via house calls. In late December, his trusty truck blew the engine. Without a truck that can navigate the "roads" in his area, he is very severely limited in how he can continue his practice.
I would like to help him to raise money to fix his truck (minimally) or buy a replacement (ideally). The option chosen depends on how much money we can raise. The target listed in this campaign is for a nice, used Toyota, similar to what he has now. For full transparency, GoFundMe does not recognize Tanzania as an "approved" country for their platform, so I am raising the money and will send it to him via Western Union or other approved methods.
