Cut The Bull- Support Artists, Women, and Families

Donation protected
Hey, I’m Melissa McGuckin (Paterson) from Oshawa, Ontario.

On June 1, 2025, I'm taking a buzzer to my head and a stand for causes that demand our attention.

I've always wanted to shave my head, and so now is the time to do it. Why? But this isn’t just a “why not?” moment.
This is a “why the hell wouldn’t I?” moment.

Because this hair? It can make a couple of wigs.
But this voice? It can SHARE, ASK and raise funds for causes that matter.

This is about transformation, impact, and showing up for those who need it most--those often with the quiet voices, in overlooked or forgotten situations.

Here’s where your support will go:

  • Mental health for artists (Al & Malka Green Artists’ Health Centre - Toronto, ON): As someone deeply embedded in the creative community, I've seen how mental health struggles can stifle artistry.
  • Elder abuse support (Advocacy Centre for the Elderly [ACE] - Toronto, ON): My family's firsthand experience with elder abuse makes this fight intensely personal.
  • Women and children in Gaza (UNRWA Canada - Ottawa, ON): because their lives matter. Their resilience amidst adversity is a cause I can't ignore.
  • Hospice care (Oak Ridges Hospice - Port Perry, ON): Honouring my mother-in-law, Kathleen, who showed me the profound impact of compassion to everyone, especially those in end-of-life care.

How the Funds Will Be Spent:

Every dollar raised will be split evenly among these four causes. I will receive the funds directly and distribute them to each organization via their official donation channels. To ensure full transparency, I will provide updates and receipts.

How I’m Affiliated with These Causes:

I’m not directly connected to these organizations, but each was chosen for a reason. They represent the values I live by and the issues I can’t ignore.

  • I’m an artist and entrepreneur who’s struggled with mental health. I know what it means to suffer in silence.
  • My family has been directly impacted by elder abuse and financial exploitation.
  • I believe in standing up for global equity, especially for women and children in crisis.
  • My mother-in-law was a woman of strength and deep service. Honouring her legacy with Oak Ridges Hospice is personal.

Why These Causes & Why it Matters:

Because I can't say I want change and stay silent.
Because shaving my head is a statement that beauty, comfort, and perfection are distractions from what really matters.

And because while some people in power are using their platforms to spread fear, hate, and division…
I’m using mine to raise hope, support, and change.
One shaved head. Four causes. A ripple effect that starts now.

This is about showing up. For the people who can’t.
This is about being loud. For the ones who’ve been ignored.
This is about standing up. Even if your knees are shaking.

If you’ve ever thought, “I want to help but I don’t know how,” this is it.
You don’t need to buzz your head.
You just need to show up.

Join me in transforming empathy into action. Together, let's amplify the voices that need to be heard.
