Help please! I am fostering Arthur for the San Antonio SPCA. He came from a local shelter after his stray time was up. He was so overweight, and with a strict diet and exercise, he went from 60 lbs to 50. He still has some ways to go.
I took him to the vet for a checkup. I was concerned about Cushing's disease due to some of the traditional symptoms. The vet also found a couple of hemangiosarcoma (cancer spots on his skin and a lump next to it). We did X-rays to ensure nothing has spread to the lungs. His bloodwork indicates possibly Cushing's disease. He is now scheduled for a specific test. He will also need to be scheduled for the removal of the cancer.
Cost: initial exam with bloodwork and X-rays: $681.52. Specific Cushing's test: $410.20. Cancer removal surgery: $793.62 = total: $1,885.34. UGH!
It is tight right now. Whoever knows me locally knows I lost 2 of my own dogs (3 ER visits, regular visits, euthanasia, and cremation costs besides a broken heart).
If you can give, please help so Arthur can get the care he deserves.
