Support Artem's Fight Against Cancer 2024

Hello everyone,

My name is Roman Gudzyuk, and I am reaching out to you on behalf of my dear friend Artem (Art for short) , who has been a part of my life for over 15 years. In 2021, Art was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, and his journey since then has been a testament to his incredible strength and determination.

Art's Journey: Art's is a husband and a father of two young boys. Art moved from New Jersey to Midland, Texas in 2010, to work as a CRNA (Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) at Midland Memorial Health. Previously, he worked as a nurse since 2005.

Art's battle began with a sigmoidoscopy in October 2021, followed by a rigorous course of the strongest chemotherapy available. After enduring 14 treatments, he was finally able to undergo a surgery to remove metastasis from his liver in June 2022. The skilled surgical team at MD Anderson performed a nearly 12-hour surgery, removing more than half of his liver. Against all odds, Art reached remission, a miraculous moment for him and his loved ones.

Art recovered well and was able to return to work in October 2022. For a few precious months, he and his family enjoyed a cancer-free life. However, in December 2022, a scan revealed suspicious nodules in his lungs and a spot in his liver. The cancer had returned. In January 2023, Artem underwent liver ablation and restarted chemotherapy.

Current Situation:

In July 2024 after going through multiple cycles of chemotherapy, Art started to experience negative side effects, including extreme exhaustion at work. Also multiple chemo treatments led to possible seizure activity. Due to being a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Art had no choice but to take a mandatory leave of absence for to recover (state requirement). At the same time Art was notified that new cancer cells were growing on his liver.
