Support Aron’s recovery from liver transplant

Donation protected

Hi there, my name is Rita and only my very close friends and family know that my little brother, Aron had just gone through a life saving liver transplant on the 26th of June 2021.

Prior to this, he was a very healthy and sporty 10 year old boy, played football and ice hockey every single week and we, as a family feel his story is unique and needs to be shared.

On Saturday, the 19th of June after having his normal daily lunch he felt sick and projectile vomited about 5 times. Initially my parents thought it was down to the food (even though they all had the same) and didn’t think too much of it. He went to his bed that night thinking he will just need a good night sleep. By Sunday morning, on the 20th of June, my parents were unable to wake him up, he was showing no signs of consciousness. An ambulance was called straight away, his blood sugar level was 0 at this point and was taken into the children’s hospital for further tests. Things have escalated very quickly as soon as his bloods came back positive for copper toxicity, and things have turned into every parents’ worst nightmare. He was instantly put into an induced coma whilst the doctors were trying their very best to figure out what is going on in his little body. Soon it was confirmed his liver and both his kidneys were failing and by Thursday night he was put on the emergency list for a new liver. In the meantime, he was receiving dialysis to keep him alive and stop his body poisoning itself any further. Friday night gave us great news that there is a matching donor with a compatible liver for him and he was given a life saving liver transplant operation on Saturday, the 26th of June. The operation lasted for 6 hours and it was successful. The road to recovery was still a very long way ahead for him. This will all require up to a 6month stay in the children’s hospital, time away from work for my parents. Any donation would make an absolute difference to their world - to help them cover bills, medical expenses, food. I would also reach out to anyone who has gone through something similar to please get in touch and share your experience that might give my parents words of advice. Thank you so much everyone for your kind donations and support.

With love

Rita
