A Plea for Help: Supporting Arnold Rivers in His Time of Crisis

Dear Friends,

My name is John Rivers, also known as “JR,” and today, I am reaching out with a heartfelt plea to help my brother, Arnold Rivers.

Arnold’s journey has been one of immense sacrifice and unwavering love for his only daughter, Gelisha. He has fought tirelessly to provide her with the care she desperately needs, moving her from an unstable group home in Pittsburgh to Minnesota, and ultimately taking on the immense responsibility of caring for her alone in Austin, Minnesota.

Despite his relentless efforts, Arnold lacked the resources and professional support needed to help Gelisha through her severe mental health challenges. Then, tragedy struck.

While Arnold was confined to bed rest after major knee surgery, Gelisha suffered a complete mental breakdown. In a devastating turn of events, she set their home on fire—leaving Arnold trapped in his second-floor bedroom. With the fire consuming everything around him, Arnold had only one way out. He was forced to jump from the second-floor window to save his life.

Arnold is now in the hospital, suffering from injuries sustained in the fall. His recently operated knee has been severely damaged, and he faces additional medical complications. To make matters worse, everything he owned—all his possessions, his home, and his sense of security—was lost in the fire. He is left with nothing.

Now, Arnold must begin the difficult journey of rebuilding his life from scratch. I am reaching out with this urgent plea, asking for your kindness, prayers, and support in any way you can offer.
