Support Army Veteran's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
I received a call from a paramedic on June 22, 2024, my brother, Nick Juliette, was involved in a scooter vs. truck accident in Grand Junction, CO, just one block from his home. This injury resulted in eight broken ribs on his left side, a punctured spleen and lung, violently dislocated shoulder, and broken humerus. Nick was airlifted to Denver to be able to better care for his injuries. To complicate things, he is left-handed and previously had two surgeries on that shoulder.
Nick is an army veteran, with a Masters of Arts in Forensic Behavioral Psychology, and currently working on a Masters of Social Work with a trauma focus to serve other veterans. He enjoys giving back to the community and volunteers at his local food shelf. He has also volunteered his time as a mentor for youth who are on probation to assist them with school, navigating the workplace, finding community resources, talking through problems with family and friends, and helping establish goals to finish high school. Unfortunately, the organization closed because of COVID.
Currently, Nick is an independent contractor for Rover taking care of pets and along with his dogs Stout and Lazlo. With that being said, it's going to be approximately six months before he is able to work.
As of today, Nick is still in the hospital with a chest tube to drain blood out of his lung. He had a thoracoscopy last Thursday to remove blood from the outside of his lungs because the chest tube was not draining enough fluid. Nick has been in a lot of pain but making slow but steady strides.
It is difficult with Nick living so far away to be there and help him. His girlfriend, Courtney, has been tremendous with coordinating, advocating, and being there for him. I was able to fly out and be there with him last week through Friday. Our mom and my oldest son flew out on Friday to help Nick and Courtney.
I set up this GoFundMe campaign to help cover Nick’s medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and daily living expenses while he is unable to work. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in Nick's recovery journey.
