My name is Thomas Smith. I am an ARMY veteran. I would like to help a retired soldier move his family and home goods back to his home state of Virginia. Lets get the word out. Please share this on your social media.
Support Army Veteran Charles Levine & His Wife Ginger
After 30 years of honorable service, Lt. Col. Charles Levine and his wife, Ginger, were ready to close the military chapter of their lives. But instead of peace, they’ve been blindsided by more than $40,000 in unexpected moving costs — a military benefit they were promised. But when he chose to stay as a reservist teaching at West Point, he was unable to move during the 6 month timeframe established for active duty soldiers when they end their time in service.
Charles served in Iraq and Afghanistan, led an airborne infantry company, taught cadets at West Point, and earned multiple Bronze Stars. Ginger stood by his side, sacrificing time, holidays, and security for decades.
But because Charles continued to serve after he was eligible to retire, the Army denied them the moving and storage benefits offered to nearly all retirees. Now they’re paying double rent — one in New York, another in Virginia — while trying to scrounge moving supplies and pack up their lives themselves.
“We cannot afford to move, and we cannot afford to stay,” Ginger said.
NBC featured an article about him and the circumstances behind his delimes. https://www.yahoo.com/news/chose-serve-longer-army-now-100000774.html
