On January 29, 2025, a tragic mid-air collision occurred over the Potomac River near Arlington, VA and Washington, D.C., involving American Eagle Flight 5342 and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter. We are heartbroken by the loss of all 67 lives.
In the aftermath, first responders from the entire DMV have been tirelessly working to manage the scene, recover victims, and ensure public safety. To support these dedicated professionals, I have been buying food and delivering it to the fire departments in Arlington, VA. I am initiating a fundraising campaign to provide meals and essential supplies as they continue their critical efforts. I hope to expand to the search and recovery teams and police departments in the area, too. I have just been showing up to the fire departments and dropping off food, but if you know of a more direct way that I could help/support please let me know. I'm willing to support however and I know many in this community are looking for opportunities, too. I am sending this primarily to my community in Arlington, VA as we all feel quite helpless. However, no matter where you are in the world, we appreciate you thinking about our first responders.
Your generous contributions will directly sustain and encourage our heroes during this impossible time. So far, I have been able to provide supplies to 3 fire departments for $100 each, so a little can go a long way. Any amount is greatly appreciated and will make a meaningful impact.
Thank you for supporting our first responders and honoring the lives affected by this tragedy. Sending so much love to the victims, those who loved them, our first responders, and our community.
