Help Arlene Rebuild Hope for Her Family & Friends in Jamaica
My name is Arlene, and I’m a Teaching Assistant for Special Education Early Childhood at Furnace Woods Elementary School in Westchester, New York. I’m originally from Bastard Cedar Walk, Jamaica, a rural community where much of my family still lives.
Recently, Hurricane Melissa, a catastrophic Category 5 storm, devastated my country and hometown destroying homes, displacing families, and tragically claiming the life of one of my relatives. My sisters, nieces, cousins and friends have lost nearly everything. Their roofs were blown away, their belongings washed out, and they are now struggling to find shelter and daily essentials.
I am raising funds to help each affected family member rebuild their homes, replace essential items like bedding and clothing, and secure food, clean water, and materials to rebuild their homes. While aid has been slow to reach the area, your donation will directly support their immediate needs and long-term recovery.
In addition to this fundraiser, I’m preparing a barrel shipment with canned goods, non-perishable foods, clothing, water, and household supplies. If you prefer to donate physical items, I’d be deeply grateful.
Every contribution big or small helps restore hope and stability for my family and community back home. Thank you for standing with us during this time of loss and rebuilding.
