Over the past few weeks, Ari’yah has been feeling sick, and her parents were getting concerned about her not being able to kick whatever virus was making her ill.
After multiple trips to the doctor without answers, Ari’yah’s mom pushed for more tests to be done, and every parent’s worst fear came true when blood tests came back showing signs of leukemia. The on-call doctor wanted them to get more answers as soon as possible, so he arranged for Ari’yah to be transferred from Santa Rosa to Oakland that night.
Everything that followed has been a whirlwind: Ari’yah was transferred via ambulance to Oakland that same evening, she underwent more tests from Children’s Oncology that confirmed she has leukemia, and her family’s world has been turned upside down watching their 3-year-old take on this battle. A few days ago, Ari’yah underwent anesthesia so her medical team could get a spinal tap, bone marrow sample, and install a port for further treatment.
Ari’yah is expected to start chemotherapy within the next few days, which means she will not be able to go back to school for at least six months. Her mom and dad will be staying home with her and taking her to appointments, treatments, etc., which means they won’t be returning to work for a while.
The goal of this GoFundMe is to raise money for expenses (gas, bills, travel, food, etc.) so that Ari and Aliyah don’t have to worry about getting Ari’yah the care she needs.
Please share this GoFundMe and send your prayers to Ari, Aliyah, Ari’yah, and their family as they embark on this difficult journey.
