️ Support the Wetherby Family After the Loss of Beloved Ariel
Organized by the Officers and Members of Engine 163 & Ladder 83
Campaign Goal:
To help alleviate the financial burden on Jason (Jay) Wetherby and his children following the heartbreaking loss of his wife, Ariel.
A Family’s Tragic Loss
On June 24, 2025, Ariel Wetherby passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a devoted wife, mother, educator, and friend whose love and strength touched countless lives. Ariel leaves behind her husband Jay, a dedicated FDNY firefighter and their three young children: Gabriella, James, and Charlotte.
As Jay faces the unimaginable task of raising their children without his beloved partner, we his firehouse family at Engine 163 and Ladder 83, are coming together to support him during this devastating time.
About Ariel
Ariel was born and raised in Staten Island, NY. She graduated from Curtis High School and earned both her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education. A passionate teacher, she worked at P.S. 102 in Brooklyn, and in special education at Community Resources Preschool and Children at Play Preschool in Staten Island as a S.E.I.T. (Special Education Itinerant Teacher).
She was known for her beautiful smile, warm heart, and fierce devotion to her family. Ariel married Jay in 2008, and together they raised their three children, first in Staten Island and later in Middletown, NJ, where they built a loving home , many friendships and memories her children will cherish forever.
Supporting Jay and the Kids
Now, as Jay becomes the sole caretaker of Gabriella, James, and Charlotte, we are asking for your help to provide some relief from the financial pressures that come with this loss. Every donation, big or small, makes a meaningful difference in their lives.
