Help Support Aria: A Brave Little Girl Facing an Unimaginable Battle
Hi, my name is Savannah, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of 4-year-old Aria Moore and her parents, Mariah Shirley and Arthur Moore.
On Tuesday, June 3, Aria was admitted to Riley Hospital for Children after a visit to the ER revealed she had a severe UTI and was dehydrated. While her bloodwork initially looked okay, her overwhelming fatigue and refusal to eat deeply concerned the doctors. In a short period of time, Aria's condition rapidly declined—her speech regressed to baby-like sounds, and her eye movements became noticeably abnormal. An MRI was ordered. The results were every parent’s worst nightmare.
A large mass was found on Aria’s brain, surrounded by fluid that was leaking and pooling dangerously. Doctors believed the tumor was likely cancerous. In an instant, this vibrant, joyful little girl’s life—and her family’s—was turned upside down.
As more testing was done, the situation grew even more overwhelming. The tumor was much larger than initially anticipated—8 x 5 cm, an enormous size for such a tiny body. Doctors were unsure if it stemmed from her optic nerve or her hypothalamus, both extremely sensitive areas, making the surgical risks exponentially higher.
Despite these challenges, on Monday, June 9, Aria bravely underwent a 14-hour brain surgery. The surgical team was able to remove about 80% of the tumor—an incredible success considering the complexity and risk involved. But doctors warned that Aria might lose her vision and that the tumor’s origin—and future treatment—remained uncertain.
Since that day, Aria has shown the world exactly who she is: a fighter with unshakable spirit. She's recovering better than anyone dared hope, showing signs of strength that have left her family and care team in awe. Another surgery is already scheduled for Monday, June 16, to place a permanent shunt that will relieve pressure and keep fluid off her brain. The oncology team is still working to determine the best course of treatment to address the remaining tumor.
Why We're Asking for Help
This fundraiser is about more than medical bills—it’s about giving this family the time and space to focus entirely on Aria’s healing.
Within just two short weeks, Aria will have endured multiple brain surgeries, with countless appointments, scans, and hospital stays still ahead. Her parents have stepped away from work to remain by her side—where they are needed the most. While they are fortunate to live close to the hospital and have access to resources like the Ronald McDonald House, the financial strain of taking unpaid time off is growing by the day.
This GoFundMe was created to help ease that burden and provide some relief as they navigate this long and uncertain journey—not just for Aria, but for her whole family.
Aria is the beloved little sister of Aiden (age 10) and Avery (age 8), two young boys who absolutely adore her. While they may not fully understand everything that’s happening, they feel the weight of it all. This has been an incredibly trying time for them as well, as their routines and sense of normalcy have been completely shaken.
Every donation—no matter the size—helps. Whether it covers a tank of gas, a utility bill, or a month of rent, your generosity allows Mariah and Art to focus on the only thing that matters right now: Aria.
If you're unable to give financially, please consider sharing this page. Your share could reach someone who can help, and that act of kindness is just as valuable.
Thank you for supporting Aria and her family. She’s already proven to be a warrior—but even the strongest little fighters need an army behind them
