Hi everyone! My name is Arianna LaRocco, and I am a senior pre-Physician Assistant student at the University of Missouri. This May, following my graduation, I have the incredible opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic on a medical service trip through Mizzou Global Medical Training (GMT).
Mizzou GMT is a student-led organization at the University of Missouri that partners with local communities in Central and South America to provide free medical care to individuals who otherwise have limited or no access to healthcare. During this trip, we will work alongside licensed medical professionals to help run temporary clinics, provide basic medical evaluations, distribute medications, and offer health education to underserved populations.
Access to healthcare is something many of us take for granted, yet in many rural areas of the Dominican Republic, families must travel long distances or go without care entirely. Being able to serve these communities while gaining hands-on clinical experience is both an honor and a meaningful step in my journey toward becoming a healthcare provider.
Each student participant is responsible for fundraising to cover the cost of the trip, which includes medical supplies, medications, travel expenses, lodging, meals, and transportation within the country. The funds raised go directly toward supporting the clinic operations and ensuring we can provide as much care as possible to the communities we serve.
Any donation, big or small, would mean so much to me and to the patients we will be serving. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you for supporting me in this opportunity to give back and make a difference!
