Support Ariana, Gabe, and Pascal After Eaton Fire

Please see the posted updates!

The original goal of $2500 was increased to $10,000 because although the structure of the house is mostly in tact, everything inside is a loss.

Ash and smoke have ruined all of Gabe, Ariana and Pascal's things and they now need to find a new place to live. As renters, they have no control over what happens to the structure. Instead, they are forced to find a new place to live and replace all of their belongings.

Original post:

My dear friends Ariana and Gabe, and their 7 y/o son Pascal, are in the midst of dealing with the effects of the traumatic Eaton Fire which has destroyed their neighborhood in Altadena, near Los Angeles. Their home, which they've rented for almost 10 years, has miraculously not burned but fire destroyed their garage and Gabe's van which he uses for work. (Gabe's a masterful carpenter and the majority of their income comes from his work as an independent contractor. Check out his work at www.millionstudio.com).

After evacuating to Ariana's mom's house, they went back to check on things. When they arrived, the garage and van were on fire, but with help from firefighters, they were able to keep it from spreading to their house! (The photo in the header is a view from their backyard!). Right now they can't get access to their house, but based on what they can see from a distance, they think the house is still OK!

They feel incredibly lucky, so I'm setting this GoFundMe at the modest goal of $2500 with the caveat that we might decide to increase the goal if they return home to find more damage than expected or if they have trouble getting their insurance to cover the cost of a new van. They aren't sure what the next few weeks will bring. They are waiting to get access to their home and to get their kid back in school (Pascal's school completely burned down). This money will help them pay their bills until Gabe can get back to work. Please consider showing your support by sending a little something their way! If you prefer to avoid the GoFundMe fees, you can send money directly to Ariana via Venmo @ArianaPR.

*** For context, I've known Gabe since the early 2000s when we were both in Chicago. Sometime around 2009, all three of us found ourselves living in NYC. Ariana and I became close. A few years later we were going on double dates. Me, Tyler, Ariana and Gabe spent holidays together and took weekend trips together until Gabe and Ariana moved to LA in 2015. As soon as I learned of the fires, I reached out and after hearing their situation, I decided that since I'm here in Brooklyn, far from the trauma, I could work on this GoFundMe page while they focus on their immediate situation. Any money that comes through this page will transfer directly into Ariana's bank account. I hope this helps them get back to their dreams, with as much support as possible.

Thanks, Stacie Johnson
