We are the Freni Family, and we are sharing our story with humbled hearts, deep faith, and hope in God’s plan. Our sweet boy, Ares, has been fighting for his life since the very moment he entered this world.
Ares was born prematurely at 34 weeks and was immediately rushed into intensive medical care. From the very beginning, he faced more challenges than any child ever should. He was treated for Respiratory failure and respiratory distress syndrome, Congenital hypoplasia of the lungs, Congenital renal dysplasia, Congenital posterior urethral valves, Pneumothorax, Pulmonary hypertension, Hypoglycemia, hypotension, Chronic renal failure, and Hyperkalemia.
From his first days of life, hospitals became our second home. Since then, we have been in and out of hospitals constantly, battling the ongoing risk of infection and navigating endless procedures and appointments. Ares has had a G-tube placed for feeding and has been on dialysis since he was just two weeks old. He receives treatment every single day. Because of the complexity of his care, one parent must always be home to administer medications and take him to his many appointments. In addition, due to his premature birth and medical challenges, Ares is also in Occupational therapy, Physical therapy, and Speech therapy.
Despite everything his little body has been through, Ares continues to fight with a strength that inspires everyone who meets him. Now, Ares is on the road toward a life-saving kidney transplant. While we are beyond grateful for the incredible doctors, nurses, and medical teams caring for him, this journey comes with overwhelming financial and emotional weight. This road includes frequent travel to and from the hospital, long hospital stays and appointments, time off work to be by Ares’s side, medical bills, medications, medical supplies, lodging, food, and everyday household expenses that don’t stop. Right now, our focus is exactly where it needs to be, on Ares and his health. But the financial burden of this journey is more than we can carry alone.
We believe with our whole hearts that God is writing Ares’s story. We have already seen His hand in moments that can only be described as miracles. We know He is not done with our boy yet. If you feel called to give, please know that every single dollar will go directly toward transplant-related expenses, travel and hospital stays, lost income while caring for Ares, medications, supplies, ongoing care, and keeping our family afloat during this fight.
In addition to financial support, if you feel called to help in an even bigger way, you can also consider being tested to become a living kidney donor for Ares. A living donor could completely change his life. If this is something on your heart, please know that even just getting tested could be the miracle that saves our son’s life.
If you are not able to donate, we completely understand. Your prayers mean just as much to us. Please pray for a successful transplant, a perfect kidney match, strength and comfort for Ares, peace, endurance, faith for our family, and complete healing in God’s perfect timing.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every prayer, every share, every message, and every act of kindness. Thank you for loving our boy and being part of his miracle.
With love and endless gratitude,
The Freni Family
