Support Ares' Battle Against Hemangiosarcoma

Anyone who knows me, knows that Ares is the love of my life, and the heart outside of my body. He is what my universe is centered around, all of my good days, and my reason for being.

Anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Ares, knows all too well his undeniable obsession with playing (specifically with his favorite purple elephant toy), swimming and running. He absolutely loves to cuddle, is a sucker for papa john's pizza-crust, and doubles as a lifeguard - when he thinks anyone might potentially drown in the low end of a swimming pool.

On July 15, 2024, during a routine check-up for a previous surgery, my entire world was flipped upside down when a seemingly insignificant lump on his right side was diagnosed as cancer. Immediately, I contacted Ares' surgical oncologist up at the University of Florida, to get him scheduled for surgery.

On August 2, 2024, Ares underwent an exceptionally extensive surgery to remove the cancerous mass. His absolutely incredible surgical oncologist / team was able to successfully remove the golf ball sized lump with perfectly clean margins, unfortunately having to remove one of his ribs in the process.

I was all but optimistic, until once again, my world came crashing down. Today, his surgeon called to confirm Ares' histopathology results.... Subcutaneous Hemangiosarcoma, the most aggressive form of canine cancer.

Although the cancerous mass was excised with perfect margins and is unlikely to recur in the same location- its metastatic recurrence is likely, and will potentially affect his lungs, spleen and surrounding organs. To prolong metastasis and give him the best prognosis...chemotherapy, is required; along with regular CT-scans, and ultrasounds.

I am not usually one to ask for help, and in any other scenario, I probably wouldn't be doing this... but as anyone with animals (who consider them to be family) can understand - treatments are expensive.

Ares isn't just a dog; he is my family. He is absolutely everything in the world to me - so any help at all, would be such a blessing.

Thank you for taking the time to read, share and donate.

We love you. <3
