Support Archie's Journey to Walk Again
Donation protected
On Saturday, November 23rd, our sweet Archie boy was outside in the backyard playing when he severely injured/bruised his spinal cord. We did not know this at the time and were absolutely terrified to see his back legs go completely limp. We rushed him to the emergency vet, where we were then transferred to a vet hospital in San Marcos that specializes in neurology. There, he was diagnosed with an acute non-compressive nucleus pulposus extrusion (ANNPE). This occurs when a small amount of intervertebral disc material herniates rapidly, causing significant bruising to the spinal cord without concurrent compression of the spinal cord. Basically, it was a freak accident completely out of our control.
Given the lack of compression on his spinal cord, surgery was thankfully not warranted. We were told that typically patients improve over a span of days to weeks. The prognosis is 80-90% chance for a good recovery (regaining the ability to walk without assistance). In most dogs, this process takes 2-4 weeks, but in some dogs, it can take months for them to regain their ability to walk.
All of this has been incredibly overwhelming for us as our routines and daily life have been completely turned upside down. We hate seeing Archie like this, and we are praying fervently for a full recovery.
We are humbly asking family and friends for financial assistance to help get Archie back on his feet as soon as possible through physical therapy sessions and electromagnetic stimulation therapy. Any donations will help us get the care Archie needs and would be greatly appreciated.
We have already paid quite a bit for his medical expenses, and as most of you know, we have been struggling to grow our family for the past couple of years and will be pursuing fertility treatments in the new year, so we cannot afford to spend any more money. We want to get Archie the care he needs, and we are hoping that with a little help, we will be able to.
Thank you all for your love, prayers, and support. Archie has been the best dog and has been with us through so much. He is the glue to our family, and we want nothing more than to see him happy, healthy, and thriving again.
Our deepest gratitude to anyone who can help.
