My name is Apsana Darjee. Two years ago, I founded a small nonprofit project called Backpack of Hopes with one goal in mind: help students in Nepal in refugee camps.

Growing up Nepali, I witnessed firsthand how many children struggle to continue their education due to poverty, limited resources, and lack of sanitation. Many students walk miles to school with no notebooks, no pencils, and no hygiene essentials—items that seem small to us but make a life-changing difference for them. As a first-gen student myself, I know how powerful opportunity can be, and I wanted to give that same hope to students who deserve a brighter future.

Backpack of Hopes began with a simple idea:

One backpack filled with educational and hygiene supplies can inspire confidence, protect health, and open doors.

Over the last two years, I’ve worked to send essential items to students in rural Nepal. Every donation—small or large—has helped transform classrooms, empower young learners, and let children know that someone across the world believes in them.

This year, I am raising $500 to send another shipment of hygiene kits and school supplies. These funds will help provide:

• Toothbrushes & toothpaste

• Soap & shampoo

• Sanitary products

• Basic first-aid supplies

• Notebooks, pencils, erasers, and more

These items promote both education and health, two things every child deserves regardless of where they live.

Your support will directly impact students who are trying their best to learn despite difficult circumstances. Even $5 makes a difference. Every donation helps us send more hope—and more opportunity—back home to Nepal.

Thank you so much for reading, supporting, and helping us continue this mission.

Together, we can put hope in every backpack.
