Our friend/sister is facing an incredibly difficult time in her life. April Summers was recently diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer.
April’s medical journey began at age 45 with her first stroke in June of 2019. Following this, her second stroke occurred in November of 2023. April is a fighter, and she worked hard to get well while still working and supporting herself financially through it all. Then more bad luck occurred when she found out that she’d need a heart procedure in May of 2024. Yet again, April showed her strength, resilience, and tenacity as she overcame this obstacle and continued to work towards getting her health back. Then, in November of 2024, after a routine colonoscopy, April was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer. Surgery to remove a portion of her colon was a success. But, April’s recovery has been difficult as she’s lost a considerable amount of weight and needs to build her strength to fight her next battle, chemotherapy.
Currently, April is unable to work, and due to administrative delays in processing her short-term disability payments, April has now been without any form of monetary compensation for over a month. As medical bills and the costs of daily living continue to mount, April is in need of our help.
Your support, whether through monetary donation or by sharing this page with others, will help to ease some of the financial burden so that April can focus on what matters most: getting her strength back, getting her weight back over 100 lbs to be ready for chemo, and recovering fully from this horrible cancer. She is a fighter, and we know she can do this!
Funds raised will help to offset:
- Medical expenses - including surgeries, chemotherapy, prescriptions, and follow-up care.
- Daily nutrition and health needs - to help her body get as strong as possible before and during chemo treatments.
- Living expenses - as we don’t want her to lose her independence and the life that she’s worked so hard for.
Every single contribution, big or small, means the world to us and will make a significant difference in April’s life. We thank you in advance for your kindness, generosity, and support as we rally around April to help her fight colon cancer.
Please keep April and her family in your prayers.
For those who prefer to donate directly, you can Venmo @april-summers-29.
Lastly, on behalf of April, we are asking each and every one of you, age 45+ (or 40+ with a family history of colon cancer) to have your colonoscopy. Don’t put it off - it may save your life.
