My name is April Mae and I am a Mother of 4. I recently had surgery to have an enlarged lymph node removed from the right side of my neck. I also recently discovered that I have numerous abscesses behind my right ear, lower neck and around my lower lumbar spine. I also am in need of having an abscess removed from above my tooth that is also on the right side of my mouth that is causing me to feel unwell. In January 2005, my daughter and I were hit by someone who had ran a stop sign doing 85mph, hitting my little Ford Tempo on the passenger side, causing the vehicle to roll five times before landing upside down. The driver’s of the truck pulled out our bodies out of the vehicle and fled the scene after leaving us in an open cotton field bleeding nearly to death. A passerby found us and contacted authorities. We were airlifted via helicopter to Maricopa County Medical Center where I would stay for several weeks due to head trauma, internal bleeding, a broken pelvis, right broken collarbone and damage to the liver. Several blood transfusions saved my life that day. I am grateful for the ability to learn how to walk again and be able to accomplish what I have in my lifetime. I am sincerely grateful for my life and I am deeply grateful my daughter made it out alive as well and is well today. However, 20 years later, I have developed these abscesses and inflammation within my body due to the trauma that occurred to my physical body, there are still metal and glass fragments within the fascia and soft tissue along my right side and attempting to work itself out of my body. I will need to have several more operations in order to clear out the fragments that were retained within my body and have these encapsulations and abscesses cleared out safety. On top of the discomfort of recently having surgery, I am having a lot of discomfort where further glass and metal fragments are attempting to push through my skin as well as the encapsulations I am feeling. It has been challenging to work full time and make ends meet with this occurring in my physical body as well as having to care for my son, Nathan, who was diagnosed with Portal Vein Thrombosis, Esophagus Varcies, a tumor on the liver, and cirrhosis of the liver due to iron overload this past year and who has also had over 200 blood transfusions due to his rare genetic disorder that has been a medical process his entire life. I am asking for some kind of help during this time so I may heal my body and get better so I can continue taking care of the needs of my children and ensuring their medical needs are being addressed and managed properly. I am a single Mom and I know our economy isn’t the best. I would sincerely be grateful for any kind of help so I do not lose our home, our car or the things we need in order to get by while I have my medical needs addressed and the needs of my children. Thank you for taking the time to listen to my story and be supportive. I am forever grateful for any help and prayers sent our way. May God bless us all beyond measure. Thank you with all my heart.
