Hi, my name is April, and I’m a mother of two beautiful daughters, ages 6 and 8, from Memphis, TN.

On November 12th, our apartment caught fire, and we lost everything — our clothes, furniture, and all of our personal belongings. We didn’t have renters insurance, and it’s been devastating trying to explain to my girls why we can’t go back home.

Before this happened, I was already trying to get back on my feet. I’ve been working hard, raising my daughters on my own, and finding ways to make ends meet. Earlier this year, I lost my car after a wreck and have been doing my best to recover financially while still getting to work and caring for my family.

The Red Cross was kind enough to place us in a hotel for now, but we’re starting completely over. We need help replacing the basics — clothes, shoes, toiletries, school supplies, and eventually saving up for a new place to live and reliable transportation.

I’ve always been the one to push through and keep going, but right now I have to ask for help. Any amount you give, no matter how small, will go directly toward rebuilding our lives and helping me create a safe, stable home again for my daughters.
