April Stark is my best friend. I’ve known her for about five years, and in that time I’ve come to understand that she is always the kind of person who shows up for others around her. She is the type of person who will drop what she’s doing to help someone else, whether it’s a close friend or a complete stranger. If you’re lucky enough to know April, you understand the kind of heart she has. Right now, she is facing one of the most difficult moments of her life. April recently lost her father very suddenly and completely unexpectedly. Even writing that doesn’t feel quite real. He was someone who was always there, always admired and loved by everyone who had the chance to know him. In the seemingly short time I knew him, I grew to care about him a lot. He was the kind of dad who made not only his daughter, but her friends too, feel welcome and safe. His home always felt like a place where you could show up, be yourself, and be met with welcomeness. He was generous, patient, hardworking, and unintentionally hilarious in the best way. He was an amazing father always making sure his girl was supported and taken care of. He was incredibly proud of April and the person that she has become. Losing someone like that so suddenly is something no one is ever prepared for. On top of the emotional weight of losing her father, April is now facing the financial burden that comes with funeral arrangements and unexpected expenses during a time when she should be able to focus on grieving and being with her friends and family. I created this page because April has spent so much of her life helping others, and now it’s our turn to help her. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go toward helping cover unexpected expenses and supporting April during this incredibly difficult time.
