Support Apricot's Life-Saving Surgery

This is our cat, Apricot. She's a four-year-old sweet kitty with a big appetite, but recently we noticed a lack of interest in food and some lethargy. That's not at all like her, but we were hoping for the best.

Unfortunately, when we set up a vet appointment, the best was definitely not what we got. Our girl was a good girl for the whole examination, but during her ultrasound and X-rays, they discovered a tumor that has taken up the majority of her abdomen.

The vet we're at doesn't have the facilities for surgery and oncology, so they referred us to a vet that does.

But vet care is expensive. Just this examination and X-ray is already 600. We want our girl to live as good a life as she has up till now, so we want to do everything we can for her. Unfortunately, in order to do that, we would need to follow up with our referral to the other clinic, and at a low estimate, that would already be several thousand dollars.

I'm making this GFM to help cover examinations, surgical costs, and any follow-up care needed. As well as meds and any special diets.

Edit 9/23:

I originally made this GFM while in the examination room with Apricot on my phone, so there are a few things I didn't add at the time.

First off, as I said, the original examination just to tell us she had a tumor (with no further steps taken) came out to 600usd. We got a referral to a vet with surgical and oncology specialists, but just the intake and consultation (basically a redo of the tests she'd already had, done by specialists) has the pending costs of 200usd to 800usd. Any possible surgeries are quoted at a few thousand. Unfortunately, the costs don't stop there. The specialist vet does not have overnight facilities in case she does undergo surgery and needs observation through the night or several following days, so we would need to take her to another vet that is capable of that.

Which is why our funding goal is set at 8000, rather than the 1.8k tier gfm had automatically placed us at. I know it's a steep goal, but please don't be discouraged by the big number. If anyone can donate anything at all, even 1usd, that will go a long way to helping us take care of a beloved member of our family. Apricot is more than the family cat or my autistic sister's emotional support cat; she's an integral part of our household, a member of our family. She's the caretaker and mother figure to our other pets. She means everything to us, and just like any other family member, we want to take care of her and give her the best chance we possibly can.

Once again, anything helps. Be it a small donation or sharing with as many people as you can, we really appreciate it.
