Our beloved local café, Panache in Lafayette, was robbed early yesterday morning around 5 a.m. Six masked individuals broke in while the owner, Apple, (Chalermwannap Sampaeng) was inside. Thankfully, she was able to hide and was not physically harmed.
The police arrived within minutes, but the robbers managed to steal her locked safe, which had been bolted to the floor. The safe contained a significant amount of Apple’s hard-earned savings. They also smashed two glass doors, damaged a computer, broke the cash register, and took her wallet, among other items.
Although there is an active police investigation, it’s unlikely that the stolen funds will be recovered. This loss has been emotionally and financially devastating for Apple. She has poured her heart into Panache Café, serving our community with warmth and kindness, and now she’s struggling to recover from this tragedy.
We — her close friends and loyal customers — want to help Apple get back on her feet.
Every contribution, no matter the amount, will make a difference.
If you can, please consider donating or sharing this page to spread the word. You can also show your support by stopping by the café for a coffee, tea, or boba — and don’t forget to try her famous blueberry scones
