Who We Are
We are Apex Orchards in Shelburne MA, a local farm that grows apples and other tree fruit.
Our Need
This fall, Hurricane Melissa made landfall in Jamaica and caused significant damage in the communities where our seasonal farm workers live. Eight members of our team—men who return to our farm year after year, and who have become part of our farm family—have received word from home that their houses and belongings have been damaged or destroyed.
They are still here working with us. When their seasonal contracts end, they will be returning to homes in need of major repairs—some will return to damaged roofs, flooded rooms, lost furniture, and in some cases, very little left at all.
These are the workers who show up every day to help plant, tend, harvest, and bring our crops to market. Their labor and skill are a core part of every season. They are not just employees—they are friends, partners, and a deeply valued part of our community.
We are raising funds now so they can return home with the means to begin rebuilding—whether that means repairing roofs and walls, replacing beds and clothing, or securing safe living space for their families.
Every dollar donated will be divided equally among all eight workers to support their rebuilding efforts.
How Your Help Makes a Difference:
$25 helps replace clothing, bedding, and personal essentials
$50 helps purchase groceries and basic household supplies
$100 supports the cost of roofing materials, lumber, or masonry repairs
Larger contributions help restore safe living spaces and rebuild damaged rooms
No amount is too small. Sharing this fundraiser also truly helps.
Local Donation Option:
If you prefer to give in person, we will have a donation jar inside our farm store every day from 9 AM–5 PM.
These men have helped our farm and community thrive year after year. Now we have an opportunity to help them rebuild theirs.
Thank you, sincerely, for your care, support, and kindness.
With Gratitude,
The Apex Team
