Aoife Sweeney O'Connor has a Donegal dream!
Ah hello there. It's me, wee Aoife. I am debuting my first one-person comedy cabaret show this September in Dublin and I need your help. This show is my love letter to the rural non-binary experience, to mammies and to Donegal's finest export; Daniel O'Donnell.
I'm queering the culchie experience and creating a space for people to go all kinds of gleefully feral, as they hoot and holler along! After almost 10 years of making and doing, this is my first solo show. I can't wait to share it with you!
What is the show about?
This show is an autobiographical one-person comedy cabaret performance about being a queer non-binary person, growing up in Donegal and being utterly obsessed with a certain wee Donegal icon.
This is a real-life story, an absurdist autobiographical tale infused with queer joy, and the culmination of Aoife’s showbiz journey to date as comedian, cabaret artist, wannabe culchie and Donegal enthusiast. Aoife’s unique flavour of performance centres around fun, silliness and something dazzlingly feral. It's a show for old ladies and young theydies and everyone else in between.
Watch this space as more will be revealed about the show in the coming months!
But wait! What in the world is an Aoife Sweeney O'Connor?
Aoife is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist from Donegal. They are a theatre and cabaret maker, comedian, actor, and the co-creator and host of the celebrated queer cabaret EGG.
A current Dublin Fringe Festival artist in residence, Aoife has been described as a 'queer artist to watch' (GCN). They have recently graduated from Bow Street Academy of Screen Acting’s full time course.
Over the last few years, they have participated in 'Transforming Stages', with Outburst Arts Festival Belfast and they are a recipient of the Axis Assemble bursary with Axis Ballymun. They also made their feature film debut in the acclaimed independent comedy 'Bicycle Thieves: Pumped Up.'
Last September, they made their award winning Dublin Fringe debut as co-host and co-producer of their show 'EGG: The Proclamation of the Irish Republegg’ in the National Stadium. Aoife is making a name for themselves as one of Ireland's foremost non-binary multidisciplinary performers.
How will your donation help?

Your donation will go towards making this show a reality; from paying the gorgeous folks who are helping me build this show, to covering publicity costs to hiring a tech team and beyond! We are building this show from the ground-up, so truly every little helps.
Whatever you can give will help to make this process an easier more accessible and delightful thing. It is so greatly appreciated x
Baby Aoife & Baby Daniel thank you!
