Hello,
My name is Anyully and I was told on December 31st, 2024, that I had breast cancer.
Since experiencing abnormal inflammation and pain in one of my breasts during the week of Thanksgiving 2024, I have requested appointments and gone through the tests necessary to figure out the cause of the inflammation.
After a biopsy on December 24th at the Miami Cancer Institute, my family and I finally got the diagnosis on December 31st.
After the holiday breaks, I was able to schedule my first appointment with a surgical oncologist on January 6th and have gone through multiple scans, blood work, other provider appointments, and a port placement to finally start my chemotherapy treatment on January 27th.
Throughout this time, I have been able to continue working, and my work insurance has been covering a big part of my treatment. Unfortunately, between the biopsy having been done in the calendar year of 2024 and the new appointments and scans being done in 2025, I have accumulated a balance due with Baptist Hospital of a little over $10,000 in the time span of less than a month.
My treatment starting January 27th will be comprised of the following:
- 6 chemotherapy infusions spaced out every 3 weeks
- Immunotherapy infusions spaced out every 3 weeks for 18 months
- MRI to check how the tumors have shrunk
- Surgery to remove all the infected areas (singular or double mastectomy)
- Recovery from surgery
- Radiation
- Ongoing treatment for the completion of 2 years
During this time, we still don't fully know how much more will be added to my hospital balance due or any other costs we will have to take on to assist with my at-home care before or after surgery. My mother and sister have been along with me every step of the way and have been the most helpful in the ways that they can be.
We all continue to work as long as we are able to. Considering my treatment plan, I am expecting to have to take off work intermittently and then completely during surgery and recovery.
Any bit of help that we can get to cover these costs of this unexpected illness is very much appreciated and would be a huge help to us all.
We remain optimistic and committed to facing this journey with strength, hope, and resilience, embracing each step with a positive mindset.
Thank you so much, and we will keep you updated!
