Support Anyanwu's Fight Against Eviction
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Monifa and I'm raising emergency funds for my partner Anyanwu, who is a breast cancer survivor. These critical emergency funds are needed so that Anyanwu will not be evicted from her housing and so that she can cover her current and upcoming medical and living expenses. Her leasing office started court eviction proceedings against her and they will evict her unless her rent is paid in full by April 29th. In addition to the rent, Anyanwu's leasing office is also demanding she pay their court fees and their daily attorney fees in full by April 29th.
Anyanwu was diagnosed with breast cancer last May (2023). She has endured an emotionally, physically and spiritually grueling treatment and recovery process. Her journey has included surgical removal of the tumor, followed by weeks of daily radiation treatments, followed by months of her taking the cancer suppressing medication tamoxifen. Each of these treatments has been wrought with intense and painful side effects that have impeded Anyanwu's ability to thrive, feel or function like her normal self, and generate a consistent income. Anyanwu has additionally been subjected to multiple instances of race and gender based bias from her healthcare providers. Her healthcare providers have been dismissive of her concerns and have failed to adequately educate Anyanwu or advocate for her safety and physical and emotional wellbeing.
Anyanwu is a beautiful, brilliant, generous, loving, thoughtful, creative, motivated, innovative, independent, highly accomplished, self aware and selfless human being who brings love, light and joy to others. Her smile and optimism are infectious. Loving and uplifting others just comes naturally to her. She always tells me that she "just loves human beings" and I have witnessed how absolutely true this is. She's a phenomenal person who did not deserve the rotten cards breast cancer has dealt her.
Through her tireless work as a social justice and racial equity innovator and educator she has dedicated her life to effecting change in the lives of countless individuals and communities across the country. I'm hoping that, we, her community, can envelop her in a generous outpouring of support as she works to fight this eviction and rebuild her life after surviving breast cancer.
