Anwar Powell, is a devoted husband to Wendy and father to Evan. In 2019, after struggling with neck pain for several years, Anwar was diagnosed with a rare form of muscle cancer. In 2020, he had surgery to remove the cancer and since then, they have fought to kick cancer's butt. However, earlier this year, the cancer aggressively returned. For the last few months, they have been flying to and from MD Anderson (TX) for a clinical trial. Unfortunately, it was not successful and as of today, he is hospitalized near his home and is still fighting to live.

Anwar and Wendy's love story began in college. Since then, they have been deeply in love, married for 16 years, and are always the life of the party among friends. They have a sweet son, Evan, who misses his daddy and best friend daily. Wendy is a nurse and has fought hard to stay by Anwar's side, work when she can, care for Evan, and take care of herself. Despite chemo, radiation, traveling, and extended hospital stays, Anwar's cancer is still progressing but his face and eyes still light up when Wendy and Evan come to visit. They are his world!
