Antonio Alfonso Flores 11/1/52-6/9/24

We lost my dad at 8:58am EST on Sunday, June 9th to the battle to cancer. The cancer began with his lungs then spread to his bones. As if cancer was not tough enough, he dealt with other health complications that his body could not handle any more pain. His last five days in hospice care were pain-free as the nurses made sure that he was in the best care and he was comfortable. He died peacefully in his sleep.

Some of my dad’s great memories as a child were in the summer days he would take us to Santa Cruz. He always loved the beach and found it to be peaceful. Even when he was working and driving by Monterey and Santa Cruz, he would call me just to brag of the beautiful views (while most of us are in an office building with a view that couldn’t compare). He would go above and beyond to see us happy, even if it meant driving at the crack of dawn to Tijuana to visit with my grandma Flora and mom’s family. During our visit in Tijuana, he would make it a point to go to Rosarito beach with the family. It was always fun and memorable. Another simple but good memory is his way of letting us be kids, we would let us comb his hair and put bows on it, ride on his back, throw us around in the pool, celebrated birthdays and holidays, take us to play at the park, and for a special ice cream treat at Foster Freeze. We loved the chocolate dipped cones; the ice cream would drip all over our faces. Dad loved to listen to his jazz and classical music, it relaxed him.

My family and I are collecting any donation amount to assist with the funeral expenses.
