Hello, My name is Maria Elena and have started a GoFundMe to help my uncle's, Antonio Mateo, stroke recovery. Thank you for taking your time to read this and support us.
On August 19, 2024, my uncle suffered a stroke which caused him to loose mobility in his face and upper left side. Anyone that knows him knows that he is a very active and a positive individual. Although it’s a long way for recovery, I know he will get to back to being himself again.
He is currently in in-patient rehabilitation but, unfortunately, insurance can only cover a few days so he will need to start out-patient therapy to continue his recovery. During his stay in the ICU, we found out that he has several underlying health issues such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and Type-2 Diabetes. My uncle’s condition requires a lot of medical attention and we are asking for help to cover some of the cost and ease his mind. He is the primary care taker for his family in Guatemala and will be out of work for awhile. My family and I are a fully supporting him in any possible but can only do so much financially.

Hola, Mi nombre es María Elena y he iniciado un GoFundMe para ayudar a mi tío, Antonio Mateo, a recuperarse de su derrame cerebral. Gracias por tomarse su tiempo para leer esto y apoyarnos.
El 19 de agosto de 2024, mi tío sufrió un derrame cerebral que le provocó pérdida de movilidad en la cara y lado superior izquierdo. Quien lo conoce sabe que es una persona muy activa y positiva. Aunque queda un largo camino hacia la recuperación, sé que volverá a ser él mismo.
Actualmente se encuentra en rehabilitación hospitalaria, pero lamentablemente el seguro solo puede cubrir unos días, por lo que tendrá que iniciar una terapia ambulatoria para continuar con su recuperación. Durante su tiempo en la UCI (hospital), descubrimos que tiene varios problemas de salud subyacentes, entre ellos presión arterial alta, colesterol alto y diabetes tipo 2. La condición de mi tío requiere mucha atención médica y estamos pidiendo ayuda para cubrir parte del costo. Él es el principal cuidador de su familia en Guatemala y estará sin trabajo por un tiempo. Mi familia y yo lo apoyamos plenamente en todo lo posible, pero no podemos hacer mucho económicamente.
