Hi everyone,
My name is Reece, and I’m creating this GoFundMe for my girlfriend, Antonella.
Over the last couple of years, Antonella has been fighting a battle that no young person should ever have to face. She was diagnosed with a Grade 2 astrocytoma, a brain tumour located in the right parietal lobe of her brain. Since then, our lives have been filled with hospital visits, MRIs, specialist appointments, seizures, medications, and difficult decisions that seem to never end.
In August 2024, Antonella underwent an awake brain surgery where doctors were able to remove most of the tumour. We hoped that would give her many years of stability, but unfortunately recent scans have shown that the tumour has continued to grow.
Within the next month, Antonella will be facing another brain surgery. Following surgery, doctors will determine the next steps for treatment, which may include targeted therapies, chemotherapy, radiation, or other options depending on what they find and what gives her the best chance moving forward.
As frightening as this situation has been, what continues to amaze me is the way Antonella handles it. She faces every appointment, every scan, and every setback with more strength than I think most people could imagine. Even on the hardest days, she continues to care about the people around her before thinking about herself.
Anyone who knows Antonella knows exactly the kind of person she is. She is kind, compassionate, hardworking, and always willing to help others when they need it. She is the person who checks in on friends, shows up when someone is struggling, and puts her whole heart into the people she loves.
Unfortunately, this journey has also created a significant financial burden. Antonella had been preparing to start a new job when her symptoms began worsening, leaving her unable to work at a time when medical costs and everyday expenses continue to grow. Between treatment, travel, recovery, and time away from work, the financial pressure has become overwhelming for both her and her loved ones.
I am creating this fundraiser to help relieve some of that burden so she can focus her energy where it belongs: on getting through surgery, treatment, and recovery.
Funds raised will help with:
• Medical and treatment-related expenses
• Travel and accommodation for appointments and specialized care
• Recovery costs following surgery and future treatments
• Daily living expenses while she is unable to work
• Supporting Antonella and her family through the months ahead
If you are able to donate, no matter the amount, it would mean more than I can put into words. Every contribution will help ease the stress that comes with fighting a life-changing illness.
If donating isn’t possible, sharing this fundraiser with others is just as appreciated and helps more than you know.
Thank you for taking the time to read Antonella’s story. Your support, generosity, and kindness will help her continue this fight and remind her that she is not facing it alone.
With gratitude,
Reece
