Support Anton to stay at Howard University

Hello everyone, my name is Anton Hopewell Jr. I’m a freshman Marketing major at Howard University, from the south side of Chicago. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart for 14,000 in financial support to continue my college education.

I’m the first male in a family of strong women, raised by a single mother. As a first-generation college student, I’ve worked tirelessly to uphold academic excellence and persevere through hardship. I lost my grandmother to COVID-19 during my freshman year of high school and this is a loss that devastated me but reinforced my dedication to succeed and provide a better life for my family.

I’ve done well in school from here to forward, I graduated from Jones College Prep in 2024 with a 3.97 unweighted GPA and 4.87 weighted GPA as a member of the National Honor Society and several student organizations.

At Howard, I’ve maintained a 4.0 GPA while completing 30 credit hours in my first year. I’m heavily involved in campus life, serving in 6 organizations:

* Director of PR for the American Marketing Association

* Graphic Designer for HU ELITE Models

* Director of Social Media for the Howard Black Male Initiative

* PR Team member for the Undergraduate Student Assembly

* Member of the Chicago People’s Union

* Member of the Black Retail Action Group

Outside of school, I run a graphic design business called Sevenfold, I’m a member of NABA and the Recording Academy’s GrammyU. I volunteer with Community, a Walgreens-backed organization in Chicago.

Despite my hard work and qualifications, I haven’t received external scholarships or loan approvals. I’ve now been placed in collections for my tuition and currently have a hold on my account, preventing me from registering for the upcoming semester. I’m at risk of not returning to school this fall due to an unmet financial gap.

I’ve done everything I can, and I’m scared of being forced to leave college. Any contributions would be helpful and greatly appreciated. ALL donations will go to my remaining balance for the 2024–2025 school year, tuition & housing for the upcoming academic year, and travel expenses.
